This popular roving festival takes place outdoors in spectacular settings and in select theaters and venues in Napa and Sonoma Valleys, CA.

The festival presents features, documentaries, shorts and animation in six categories: World Cinema, Latin Cinema, US Cinema, The Arts in Film™ (films about music, dance and the arts,) Cinema of Conscience™ (films of social issues,) and Eco Cinema.

ZEN With each frame, director Takahashi Banmei's film exudes the same subtle, patient wisdom that Zen Buddhism has come to represent throughout the world. This biopic drama of the life and times of Master Dogen, the founder of Japanese Zen Buddhism, is treated not as a how to manual, nor merely a chronological reenactment, but an artful display of religion and culture, and how they intermingle in the story of one man's life. Rinko Kikuchi  - NSWCFF SPECIAL GUEST OF HONOR  - attends Sideways, World Premiere!

(September 27 - Napa Valley Expo)

Rinko Kikuchi who plays the free spirited Mina in the Japanese version of Sideways will attend the World Premiere Sunday September 27th, at Napa Valley Expo.

Rinko Kikuchi, born Yuriko Kikuchi, is the first Japanese actress to be nominated for an Academy Award (2006 Best Supporting Actress in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Babel) in 50 years.
